How to shop online for your special mother of the bride dress

Your daughter’s wedding day is announced. She is ecstatically happy and cannot wait to shop for her wedding dress. However, you as the mother of the bride, may have doubts about finding your perfect mother of the bride dress. After all, weren’t you the one who visited countless bridal shops, department stores, and boutiques, the last time so-and-so was getting married and could not find something to wear? What about this special occasion now? Your dress has to complement the color theme of the wedding and the chosen color is fuchsia and guess what, you look terrible in pink! Fret no more. The internet revolution has been around for years and now almost everyone, including Grandmother Harriet, is really savvy in shopping online for anything and everything sold under the sun. You can be too! If you or someone you know own a computer, and you can type “mother of the bride dress” in that search box, you have opened up a new world of shopping for yourself. Here are some quick and easy tips for shopping online: 1. First of all, understand fabric types. Most special occasion dresses are made of chiffon, georgette, silk or man-made silk, organza, or crepe. You could visit a few local bridal shops to get an idea of the different types of fabrics, their quality, and texture. 2. Understand colors. Hopefully, by now, you will know what “fuchsia” or “magenta” is. Most online stores will have color swatches posted online. However, please be aware those colors are not color true (looking at a color in natural light and close-up), as you are looking into a computer screen. See whether the internet store will send you color swatches in the mail or at least, send you another picture with a close indication of the color you are looking for. 3. Know your approximate size beforehand but wait, do not use this size to order your dress as every manufacturer cuts their dresses according to their OWN size charts. Measure yourself first with a tape measure, your bust, waist, and hips, over your undergarmentspare these numbers to the manufacturer’s size chart provided to get your best size. If you are between sizes, select the next size up as the rule is “easier to take in than to let out”. 4. Have an idea what looks good on you and what do not, through previous buying experiences and you can make a sound decision basing on those experiences. If you have large hips, an A-line skirt is definitely flattering. If you have flabby arms, a long sleeve jacket is the way to go. A longer blouse or jacket, hides a problem stomach area, so on and so forth. 5. Online stores stock a wide variety of styles, sizes, and colors and typically more so than the physical stores. Their prices are on the most part, reasonable. Check on the return policy as every store sets their own. Remember that you are shopping for a “special occasion” outfit and the return policy is usually more strict than for regular everyday clothing. 6. Once you have found your perfect dream dress, you would have saved yourself a lot of time, hassle, and perhaps money as well. Online shopping could definitely be the best option for you from now on and not only for your mother of the bride dress!

Marriage in the virgin islands st. thomas weddings

To say that St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands is a beautiful place is akin to saying that Cindy Margolis is a beautiful woman. You get an idea of what the person making the statement is trying to convey, but the term “beautiful” doesn’t quite do the subject justice. St. Thomas transcends beauty and supercedes even our best definitions of the very concept. St. Thomas is home to sparkling waters, breathtaking tropical landscapes, and wonderful weather year-round. Can you think of a better place to get married? A St. Thomas wedding is an experience that will leave you reeling in romance for years to come and give you beautiful memories for the rest of your life. As with any destination wedding, the key to your perfect St. Thomas wedding is in finding the best experience at the best price. Dealing with a travel agent to put together a package for hotel and travel arrangements is always the best and least expensive way to go. The agent can find deals that simply are not available to the general public, getting you to the islands for much less than you would have thought possible. Be sure to try and arrange for one of the impressive air or sea tours of the islands while you’re at it, the US Virgin Islands possess a beauty that simply has to be experienced. For your St. Thomas wedding ceremony there are a number of options available, but a package deal will again get you the best prices on everything you need for a memorable wedding experience. Wedding planning companies on St. Thomas offer packages that include everything from photography and flowers to private ceremonies on a secluded beach and bottles of Dom Perignon. Pricing for the wedding packages varies based upon what the package includes and range from about five hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. The most extravagant packages will cost you the most money, of course. Even a package worth over seven thousand dollars is less expensive than what many people pay for traditional weddings at home however, and the amenities make it well worth the cost. You don’t have to be Donald Trump to enjoy your St. Thomas wedding; however, even the least costly wedding packages make for a romantic wedding that is unlike any wedding experience you could get in your own hometown. If you’re planning to enjoy a fabulous destination wedding, St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands is well worth a look. The island offers everything that a couple could possibly desire in an exotic and romantic wedding destination while still being a part of the United States of America. For a fraction of what you might pay for a wedding here at home you can live and be treated like a celebrity for a few days surrounding the most special and romantic day of your entire life and return home with stories to tell of your incredible wedding adventure and memories that will stay with you forever.

Emotional abuse

Emotional abuse is a large issue that people do not tend to deal with properly. Emotional abuse stems from the yelling or screaming of parents and also from the bullies in school taunting classmates. Emotional abuse is a leading cause of suicide in the United States. Just like abuse in sexual matters, emotional abuse can be and would be called just as bad because of the fact you are dealing with mental trauma. Emotional abuse can be prevented by making sure kids are not yelled or screamed at or called names by loved ones. Also, when classmates and/or school bullies are pushing kids around and calling others names, this usually stems from emotional abuse at home. There are many facilities for the emotionally abused and most of them are state hospitals and private care facilities. These facilities are specifically used for emotional abuse and also for emotional abusers who may or may not be into the drug and alcohol scene. Those involved in emotional abuse usually have an agenda. That agenda is usually to cause as much damage as possible to the subject so that the person would break down. When a person breaks down from emotional abuse, there is really nothing anybody can do but provide support and love toward that person. Usually a hospital stay will be needed to have the subject feel better. This is mainly because emotional abuse can lead to depression and also many other things such as self inflicted harm, like cutting or hurting oneself. Emotional abuse is something that needs to be dealt with right away with parents of subjects that are bullied and usually the abuser needs issues to be worked out themselves. Emotional abuse has been reportedly on of the many reasons why many clinics and hospitals have taken on a vast majority of patients. This because of the damage that was inflicted on them by the emotional abuser. Emotional abuse can and will be used to generate a breaking of the will sometimes. This is usually done in military camps and now has proven to be an unhealthy means of working with recruits who are being made into the machines they become soldiers. It has become outlawed to be hurt emotionally and physically by any person in the military these days and is no longer is put up with. Most of those involved in emotional abuse are taught to be abusers. Some emotional abusers can and will grow out of it while some (the vast majority of them) become jailed or institutionalized . Emotional abuse is a very hurtful and vengeful way of hurting someone’s personality and their self esteem. Teachers, community leaders, religious leaders, and peers are always helping to try to solve and correct the problem. In summary, emotional abuse needs to be dealt with with and the abuser must be dealt with relatively quickly because it can cause lifelong damage to the victim. It can cause trauma and make peers and loved ones hurt themselves and also may cause lifelong damage that may affect someone’s life for years to come.

Why hire a wedding planner

Are you trying to decide whether to hire a professional wedding planner or do it yourself? Take a look at this rudimentary collection of chores and details to be attended to in order to pull off a successful wedding. You'll probably want to run, not walk, to find the nearest professional wedding planner or consultant. There's the church wedding, and all it entails, from providing your baptism certificate to choosing between confetti and biodegradable rice. Then there are such items as who sits where, ushers, bridesmaids, best men, flower girls, music, wardrobe, hairstyles, flowers, and rings. Not to mention the vows. And all the rehearsals. There's the reception. Finding the right venue and the right caterers can be a really stressful task. Then you have to plan the menu, the bar and the service, all the while hoping against hope that everything comes out okay. Not to mention the wedding cake! There's the photographer. And do you want stills and videos too? What kind of transportation will you use? What about the invitations; how to know what to put on them, who to invite? Are you getting the picture yet? The above list shows only the tip of the iceberg. The myriad chores involved in completing just one of those tasks is enough to make one elope to Las Vegas or Mexico! In fact, the only reason you might hold back on hiring a wedding planner is your budget, but that reasoning is not well thought out. A professional wedding planner not only has the know-how and the contacts to get you the best deals around, but also will hold you to your original budget with an iron will and the experience to back it up. Without someone like this on your side, things can get out of hand pretty fast. Make your dream wedding a memory to cherish forever, not a nightmare full of stressful problems to solve. A wedding planner will stick with you through thick and thin and be a shield and a comfort, so you can relax and enjoy the best day of your life!

The principal s efforts in raising funds through selling custom backpacks

Mrs. Kent looked around the quiet room, gauging the effect of her announcement. It was not that a big of a bombshell actually, but Mrs Kent could not help but feel rather pleased. "Parents, please believe what i just said. Our school team has been chosen as representatives to compete in the state level competition. As principal, I must say I am very impressed with their achievements as they are my students, and your children. “And so we need the money.” Suddenly, everyone in the room came back into life. Every pair of eyes was looking at her intensely, some showing their lack of sympathy while some show agonizing misery. The awkward moment lasted more than Mrs. Kent anticipated, and the atmosphere in the room caused her to have the sudden thought of just running away from the room and hide herself. But she reminded herself again and again that she is the principal and leader of the school, and she has her pride to defend, and thus she sat up straight in her chair. "Everyone please, I know how things are with the dilemmas in everyone's personal life. But always remember we are all involved in this together. No matter how we must find a way to raise the money so they can go compete. With that in mind, the teachers have come out with a brilliant idea. We can try to collect donations from the parents in the school and for the twenty five dollars they donate they will be given a backpack which has the team logo and slogan printed on it. This is a great chance for the school and the parents from the community to finally work on something together, and we owe it to ourselves to prove others from nearby towns wrong, that we actually can achieve something together here. And, don't you all think the kids should have this chance to prove themselves too?" "So, let us vote to decide, everyone." Still thinking about the houses that she has to clean by tomorrow; Sarah tries to pay more attention to the matter at hand. Thinking about the amount of money gave her he shudders. With the huge amount of people waiting for her to feed them, she knew that she can never afford to donate such a large sum of money. Thinking of other ways to help, she decided that the best idea is to ask some of her employers if they could help by buying the bag for their children. Even though she knew that it was the only way, she couldn't help but wince at the thought of facing the remarks of her employers. Most of them would just show unfriendliness at her request, while some would show pity at her request. In the end, she decided she was going to do it for Billy so she signed her name in agreement. A few seats down her row, a man can be seen sighing loudly, as if he has something heavy on his mind. Tobias was showing remorse due to the fact that he cannot congratulate his son, William, as soon as he got the news. The law forbids him to see him until next Monday, when he is allowed to spend time with him. At first he thought he could just call, but then he just laughed it off when he remembered about how things are with Jennifer. She is still reluctant to see him, or even answer his countless phone calls. Tobias had always wanted to show that he cared even after what had happened between them, all the fighting and hitting that he did to her. He always said to himself it was all caused by the excessive drinking, but in the end he still realized that it was all caused by him. He opened his wallet, and stared at the last fifty dollar bill inside, thinking about how desirable it is to spend it on gin before he got his next pay next Monday. He blocked his thought of alcohol out feeling bitter about himself, and he forced himself to hand over the money before he even regretted his decision. He realizes how much William would love the backpack with the team's logo on it and he wants to make up for his mistakes he has done. "What is all this soccer crap? The children are already busy as it is with their school work and they have to help in the shop also, where would they find the time for all of this? Fundraising backpacks? Our children have to resort to being beggars now is it?" Furiously, he stood up and headed straight for the door, wanting to get out from the room as soon as possible, then two other parents left with him. "Everyone, please calm down." Mrs. Kent wanted to shout out loud, but decided not to. In her mind, she was thinking the many reasons why she thinks this meeting was a bad ideapared to this, even the most rowdy of students seem like angels. As she deeply inhales, she thinks silently in her mind maybe this was the reason the students were so boisterous, boisterous parents "teaching" them! Trying to keep her temper from flaring, she inhales again and continues to talk to her audience. "Everyone, please listen to what i say. We will do everything we can to ensure that the students participate in any way they can in the project, but they can only succeed with both the teachers and parents help. For this project, i only found those who live in our own neighborhood, the people you know, your friends and your neighbors, and all of us should be supportive of what we are about to do." At the back, Mira felt another migraine pounding in her head. Why she ever agreed to come to this meeting, she thought to herself, as she worried over the pending projects left in the office. Her Blackberry constantly vibrated incoming emails and she longed for the meeting to end, so that she could reply her messages and return to the office. All-nighters were common, and if Leslie was not down with overstress in the hospital, she would not be here at all. Roy would like it, she knew, sturdy fabric with mesh pockets, with his very own team emblem imprinted on it. He would be so proud! “Roy would be prouder if his parents did not miss every match he played in,” Mrs. Kent’s voice sounded in her head. As she pledged her twenty-five dollars, she was assaulted by another agonizing stab in the head and scrambled for the aspirin in her handbag. "Everyone I am grateful for your votes. And I am pleased to announce with the favorable replies the fundraising project is officially starting!" After shaking the last parent's hands, she sat down on the table and took a deep breath, showing relief that the ordeal is finally over.

Keeping your wedding guests happy

We've all been to "one of those weddings". The kind where you need to amuse yourself between the ceremony and the reception because they're hours apart or you find yourself stuck in a receiving line that never ends. To keep friends and family happy rather than gritting their teeth in frustration, here are some tips for brides and grooms to consider during the wedding planning stages. Have Your Wedding Pictures Taken Before The Ceremony Many couples want to hold to the old-fashioned "the groom shouldn't see the bride before the ceremony" tradition. However, it's also important to consider just how long picture taking can actually be. Guests can be left waiting anywhere from one to three hours between the ceremony and reception. Not only will your guests find it frustrating, you will also have many guests showing up late to the reception... or not at all! Be considerate of friends and family concerning their time. Remember, some of them may have to pay for babysitters and can't afford to spend an entire day attending a wedding and reception. Plan on having your wedding photos done before the ceremony when everyone in the wedding party is looking fresh. This will allow you to move smoothly from the ceremony to the reception with only a short travel time in between (assuming the reception is being held in a different location). Your wedding guests will be very appreciative. Forget The Receiving Line Traditionally, the bride, groom and wedding party stand in a receiving line so that guests can wish them well. Consider dropping this custom if you have invited a lot of guests to your ceremony. It is very time consuming and most people don't even know a good portion of the wedding party. As well, you'll always have "chatters" that will hold the line up, causing the guests behind them to become impatient. Most people really only want to congratulate the bride and groom and move on. If you insist on a receiving line, keep it minimal. Have only the bride, groom and parents receive the guests, rather than the entire wedding party. Consider The Day Of The Week And The Times Of Your Ceremony And Reception If your wedding is being held on a Friday or Saturday, then this usually doesn’t cause much of a problem. However, if your wedding is being held on a Sunday evening or a weekday, keep in mind that people have to get up to go to work the next day. Tight timing is important here if you are including a dinner and dance reception. It would be best if the ceremony and the reception are being held in one location to cut out travel time. Have your photos done before the wedding as well. The ceremony should be as short as possible and then move smoothly into the reception area for dinner. Rather than starting your dance at 9pm as is usually the custom, plan it for an earlier time, such as 7:30 or 8pm. Cash Bar Or Not? Cash bars have become more common place lately. There are usually two reasons for this... a) the cost can be tremendous and b) wedding guests can easily drink too much if it's free liquor. This is a touchy area for most bridal couples and their guests. Family and friends expect drinks to be free as part of the reception. As a couple, including the cost of liquor should be a part of your wedding budget. On the other hand, if guests have to pay for their drinks, they tend to drink a lot less and it may help curb someone from trying to drive home drunk. Free flowing drinks can also cause other problems such as disorderly drunkenness where guests are dancing on the tables or possible fights breaking out. So whether to have a cash bar or a free bar is something the bride and groom will have to carefully consider. A possible solution to this is to include one or two bottles of wine per dinner table and have a cash bar during the dance. Do All The Speeches Early As the evening progresses, people tend to drink more. It would be best to ask anyone who is to give a speech or toast to keep their drinking to a minimum (or not to drink at all) until they have presented their speech and to do so early into the reception. Once people get drinking, their tongues tend to get looser and they may say things that are not appropriate during their speech if they have consumed too much liquor. Try Not to Split Up Your Wedding Attendants And Their Spouses/Dates At The Reception It can be very awkward not only for your attendants, but especially for their spouse and/or date to be seated separately. It's really not necessary to have a head table for the wedding party. Consider having two or three tables at the front of the room to hold the wedding party and their respective partners. If you do want to include a head table, consider placing another table close to the front and seating your attendant's partners at that table together.

Making the decision to hire a professional wedding planner

Organizing a wedding can be a tense situation. There are so many tasks to complete and so many people to organize that it's a wonder that so many of them get off without a hitch. What can help in these activities is a wedding planner. This is essentially an individual who takes charge of the wedding plans and ensures that everything goes smoothly. There are people who believe that a wedding planner is essential to a wedding's success. There are people at the other end of the spectrum who believe that a wedding planner is unnecessary. Which is true for your wedding? The answer to this question depends on your particular situation. A wedding planner is someone who has experience with organizing weddings. A wedding planner is ideally someone with insight into weddings. It is for these reasons that people often make the decision to use a wedding planner. Are you or someone in your family a detail-oriented person? While it is difficult to substitute the experience of a professional wedding planner with someone who can keep things organized, it is a good start. There are so many resources available on weddings that an organized individual who you know personally can become your wedding planner. A wedding planner is not simply a great organizer. A wedding planner actually wears many different hats. A wedding planner may oversee your wedding budget to make sure it remains on track. They are also buffers so that when tense or stressful situations occur they can take care of them without going to pieces. Although weddings are steeped in tradition, couples often seek to add their own flair to the ceremony. Knowing how far to go without turning your ceremony into something less than special is something that is not always easy to do. An advantage of using a wedding planner is that the individual can offer creative suggestions to help keep everything in the wedding balanced. Since being a wedding planner usually means an individual runs in wedding circles, there's a chance that the wedding planner may be able to use their connections to get you specials on some of your wedding planning needs. Even without hiring a wedding planner, wedding can be expensive. When you consider that the average wedding costs thousands of dollars, you can understand how hiring a wedding planner who makes upwards of $2000 for a single wedding is sometimes an idea that is never realized. If your budget is small and your wedding needs require that you hire a wedding planner, you might consider a wedding planner with less experience. If you choose this route, just make sure the wedding planner is someone who will benefit your wedding.

9 Ways to cope with wedding speech nerves

If you’re not used to public speaking, then making a wedding speech can be very daunting. With this in mind, I have prepared a few important tips to help you overcome your nerves and deliver a great wedding speech. 1. Remember these people are on your side. They aren’t secretly hoping you’ll mess things up. The reason you’re there giving a speech is because you are connected with the people there, and so are the audience. Bearing this in mind, you can rest assured that anything you say in your wedding speech will be listened to and respected fully. Also, people listening to speeches at weddings are wanting to laugh as this breaks the tension. So any vague attempt of a joke will get you a response. 2. Practice your wedding speech thoroughly. The more your practice, the less nervous you’ll feel on the actual day. Remember to practice the intonation of your voice and the pauses. By showing you’ve put effort into your preparation, any mistakes you may make on the day will be easily forgiven. 3. Learn your speech by heart. Whenever you have some spare time, in the car on the way to work, in the shower or wherever…practice your speech. Repeat it over and over again as many times as you can before the big day. You will feel much calmer on the big day as you’ll know the whole speech inside out. 4. Remember to breathe. As simple as this sounds, it is often overlooked. Practice where you’ll take a breath in the speech, and learn to breathe correctly. Diaphragmatic breathing, as used by singers and public speakers, will help you here. If you’re unfamiliar with this, a quick search on Google will show you. 5. Think of a funny story before you stand up. Nothing so funny that you loose you focus, but something mildly titillating that will bring a smile to your face. This will loosen you up, and give a nice energy to your wedding speech that will improve the delivery immensely. 6. Have a banana 20 minutes before you make your speech. This tip is often used by professional public speakers, and helps the nerves of many people. It also gives a nice energy boost which helps reduce your nerves. 7. Speak slowly and clearly. If you are nervous, you will feel the urge to speed up and your speech will become unclear. So try to consciously slow yourself down and speak clear so people can hear what you say. 8. Make eye contact with people in the audience so it feels like your just chatting with everyone who is there. 9. Lastly, remember to simply enjoy yourself! Your life isn’t going to end if you make a few mistakes…and it will be over in just a few minutes. Have fun!

Travel filmmuseum potsdam babelsburg

During the Cold War, Potsdam was the Hollywood of the DDR (the Deutsches Demokratisches Republik), and Babelsburg was the name of the studio at which all the films were produced. Now, however, it’s a museum within an hour’s journey from Berlin. Potsdam is easily accessible via S-bahn, and the museum is within walking distance of the Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (the main train station in Potsdam). The museum has a very modest entrance fee, but once inside, you are treated to all kinds of movie memorabilia. Those who have visited the museum prior to 2005 will remember that not the entire museum at the was translated into English, but enough of it was visual so that a visitor who spoke no German could still enjoy it. The permanent exhibit is both intellectual and fun in that it deals with the politics of the 20th century and how it influenced film production. Even if one has zero interest in politics, the various film props and costumes are of interest. The exhibit is pleasingly interactive, but not overwhelmingly so: there are touch screens that quiz the visitor on which scenes movies come from, for example, and one can listen to interviews about the filmmaking process. There are film screenings every day, usually for an extra charge. Naturally these films are usually in German, but there are English-language screenings, too, usually of fairly recent award-winning films. The best part of the museum, though, is the children’s exhibit, which is fairly unusual for a German museum. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, the studio produced many children’s films that were of traditional fairy tales. At the time of my visit, there was a large interactive exhibit featuring real items from Babelsburg sets, so children can really “experience” the movies for themselves. Even very little children or non German-speakers can have fun with the visual and tactile aspects. The exhibit incorporates video and computer touch-screens for a really immersive experience. Families traveling with small children will find this a great treat. Even the museum’s cafй is worth a visit. It’s not very overpriced, and the food with a Turkish-influence and a hint of Italian is memorable and served by friendly wait staff.

Must have ideas for decorating for wedding your guests

Although the favors and the speeches are ways to thank your guests for coming, you can do more. Many couples have found ways to appreciate their guests in a more personal way, and maybe so can you. A picture is worth… An interesting way to decorate the guests’ tables is to place a piece of clear plastic on top of the table cloth, but before doing that, you’re going to spend a little time with your photo album. You can find photos of particular guests and place them on the table. Not only does this show some of their memories, but it also shows that you were thinking of them personally as you decorated the table. The plastic will protect the pictures from being harmed. Of course, you can also make digital copies of the pictures and use those as decorations too. If the guest wants to bring them home, then you can help them do so. Next slide Another way that couples are decorating their reception with love and memories is to play a video or a slide show of themselves with their relatives and loved ones. When set to music, this can be a stirring reminder of those that have been lost and those that may have been forgotten. You can show this on a wall that everyone can see as they’re waiting for dinner, or even as dinner is served. And it doesn’t have to be perfect or even have an explanation as to who is who. It can just show the pictures of the new couple as they grew up, as they first met, and when they were engaged. Personalize your wedding and your guests will fall under the spell. Take it with you Another fun way to decorate with your guests in mind is to let people take home the decorations when they leave. This can be the candles, the flowers, wine glasses, anything that you want to give as a gift. Leave a gift bag on the back of their chair along with instructions as to what to do. This is fun for everyone and if they don’t want to bring anything home, they don’t have to. It also saves a little cleaning up! The wedding day is your day, but the reception is really for the people that have come to celebrate you, so why not celebrate them a little too?
